APC Upholds Saraki As Senate President

The All Progressive Congress [APC] party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Friday, June 12th said the party has now accepted Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President of the federal republic of Nigeria, saying having been constitutionally elected by his colleagues, party was now ready to accept the reality and live with it.

In my own opinion, it was a wise decision made. It will be very undemocratic for not to have accepted Senator Bukola Saraki as constitutionally elected Senate President. Honestly, APC at the federal level need to sit up beyond personal and party lines. Nigeria must be first and the President must succeed by the Grace of God, making Nigeria a better place for all of us.

The politics today in Nigeria is on a hybrid where true democracy is being enshrined at all levels; the recent constitutional drama played by Nigerian senators on electing their leadership of the Senate President and Deputy Senate President was a great shock across APC leadership and should also send a clear signal that we are truly advancing in our democracy when no man or group will successfully the country in ransome.
